                    Active Melbourne app is the City of Melbourne’s official platform to support your health and fitness within our aquatic and recreation facilities.

                    From participating in on-demand and live virtual gym classes, tracking and recording your indoor and outdoor workouts, accessing personalised training programs and booking sessions within our facilities.

                    In order to support our members and the greater Melbourne community, Active Melbourne app is a free fitness service.

                    The app has been created in collaboration with TechoGym MyWellness platform.

                    Active Melbourne app features and on-demand library

                    On demand

                    On-demand offers hundreds of virtual group fitness classes from the comfort of your home on your smart device and are capable of casting to other devices via Chromecast,  Apple TV and other casting devices.

                    On-demand group fitness classes have master fitness trainers from all over the world.  Classes range in length of time and from beginner to elite and include a range of speciality classes such as: Seniors, Maternity, Kids, Strength, Functional, Yoga, Pilates, Dance, Martial Arts, Barre and more.

                    On demand allows to you to use your Bluetooth heart rate device to track your heart rate on screen, while you exercise.

                    Member access for on-demand classes

                    Stream

                    Offers live group fitness classes from your favourite City of Melbourne group fitness instructors.

                    Stream classes are scheduled and can be booked into from the comfort of your home on your smart device and are capable of casting to other devices via Chromecast,  Apple TV and other casting devices.

                    Tailored  programs

                    The Active Melbourne App allows you to:

                    • Load in a personalised training program including cardio, stretching and strength training.
                    • Access instructions and videos on how to use equipment or perform a certain type of exercise.

                    The Active Melbourne app allows you to search through a range of pre-designed programs for all levels and abilities.

                    Workouts of the day

                    These are available for Beginner, Medium, Pro and more released daily for your variety. Basketball, soccer and more workouts will also be released.

                    Bookings

                    Explore the Active Melbourne App to easily find classes and services that interest you including:

                    • Book a spot in our pool
                    • Workouts of the day
                    • Stretching videos
                    • Challenge workouts.

                    You can also set the app to remind you of classes and upcoming bookings.

                    Outdoor activity

                    Keep track of your outdoor activities with Active Melbourne app or automatically sync the data you have stored in other applications.

                    The Active Melbourne app can sync with the following apps:

                    • Apple Health
                    • Fitbit
                    • Garmin
                    • MapMyFitness
                    • MyFitnessPal
                    • Polar
                    • Run Keeper
                    • Strava
                    • Swimtag
                    • Withings.

                    Body measurements and goal setting

                    Use the app to keep track of your measurements such as:

                    • Moves
                    • Calories
                    • Kilometres exercised - this is great for monitoring your progress over daily, weekly or monthly periods.

                    Account set up

                    ​Download the Active Melbourne app via the App Store or Google Play.

                    Once you have downloaded the app, create an account. Your account will need to be approved by our staff - this can take up to 24 hours. Once your account has been authenticated on our end you will be able to book a swimming session and use the full features of the app.

                    The Active Melbourne app will require you to provide personal information.

                    Data privacy

                    ​All personal information placed into the Active Melbourne app (MyWellness platform) meets the privacy requirements of the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

                    All data is controlled and managed by yourself and it can be changed or deleted at any time. 

                    The MyWellness privacy statement can be viewed on the settings function of the app.

                    Active Melbourne app FAQs

                    Do I need to consent to the processing of my personal data for marketing purposes?

                    No, this is not a mandatory field when setting up the app.

                    What is a nickname and what is it used for?

                    The nickname is your displayed name for other users to see when you sign into a group fitness class, make a booking or on the weekly “Move Ranking leader board”. Your nickname is setup as the beginning of your account email and can be changed, hidden or removed at anytime, in “Edit profile” in the app.

                    Can I change my visibility / hide my nickname from other app users on bookings and ranking?

                    Yes, you can turn you visibility to other users off and on by selecting Profile, Edit profile and Profile preferences. Toggle “Visibility settings” to switch your visibility to other App users. Users will be displayed as xxxxxxxxx to other users.

                    Alternately you can change or delete your nickname completely and this will be viewed as the new nickname or “blank” by other users. This can be done on the Edit Profile page of the app.

                    Your bookings and name will still be visible to you only on the app.

                    Why do I need to provide my weight when creating an account?

                    Weight is provided for the Activity calculations within the app and can be set between 30kg to 255kg. You are not required to put in your true weight - this is only for your own accuracy in tracking activity if you require.

                    Does my personal and health information need to be correct?

                    The only information that is required to be correct is name, email and phone number. No other information needs to be correct, but may affect the user experience of the app.

                    Who can view my personal health information such as weight, height or body measurements?

                    Yourself and facility staff only. This is designed for data collection in consultations with facility gym staff. You can choose if you do not wish to have measurements added in your account during consultations with facility staff

                    How many languages can be used in the app?

                    Currently the app can be used in 25 different languages.

                    Can I connect my heart rate belt / watch to the app?

                    This app is compatible with the major Bluetooth heart rate belts (e.g. Polar H6/H7/H10/OH1, Scosche Rhythm+, Garmin Premium/HRM-Tri). You can connect your belt by going to the section: Settings → HR monitor.

                    Can I connect this app to other fitness apps?

                    You can import the data from major fitness apps into the app; go to the section: Settings → Connect your Apps to see a list of all the available third party connection and choose which ones to connect.

                    Can I monitor my lifestyle?

                    In the section Settings → Connect your apps, you can choose which app to use to monitor your lifestyle; on iPhone Apple Health is available, whereas on Android you can choose whether to use Google Fit or S Health (if available on your smartphone).

                    How can I start a free workout?

                    Go to the section My Movement →  Do It Yourself (DIY); there are two ways you can add an exercise: 

                    • scroll through the list of categories, select the exercise, enter the data and press the Add exercise button
                    • click the icon at the top right to scan the QR code or to connect to the equipment via Bluetooth. If the Technogym equipment is connected, your results will be saved automatically at the end of the exercise; otherwise, you can enter the data manually.

                    Can I edit my training programme?

                    If you have been assigned a training programme, you may not be authorised to edit it: some parameters can be edited only by your trainer.

                    How do I edit the reps and the parameters of an exercise when I have an open workout?

                    In the My Movement area, select the workout that contains the exercise you want to edit. Press the icon at the top right, select the exercise and press the + icon to add reps; press on the rep data to edit its parameters or to delete it. You can also add an exercise to the assigned program clicking on the Add exercise at the end of the list of your assigned exercises for that session.

                    How do I delete exercises or workouts?

                    In the Results area, open the detail of the task that you want to delete: press Delete activity to delete the entire workout or enter the list of exercises and scroll with your finger to one of them to delete only one or some.

                    Can I track my outdoor trainings?

                    There are two ways to track your outdoor trainings:

                    • directly in the app using Outdoor activity tracking available in home
                    • connecting third party Apps (e.g. Garmin Connect, Strava, Polar.); the data will be automatically synchronised at the end of the task.

                    How can I update weight, height and other biometric data?

                    If you logout of the app in “Profile” and the “Settings” you will be able to adjust this data when logging back into the app.

                    Can I disable notifications?

                    In the section Other → Notifications, you can select the categories for which you would like to receive push notifications and/or email messages.
