Melbourne is a city for all people. As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan we’re committed to providing opportunities which support cultural, social and economic development for Aboriginal Victorians.

The City of Melbourne is offering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations the opportunity to book spaces at our libraries and community hubs for free.

Our libraries and community hubs have comfortable, functional and versatile spaces to hire. From multipurpose rooms to recording studios, our spaces are here to help your organisation continue the deadly work you do for the community.

Bookable spaces are available at Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre, Boyd Community Hub and Library at The Dock, and can be used for:

  • meetings
  • community education programs
  • seminars and conferences
  • training
  • exhibitions
  • music and multimedia production
  • passive indoor recreational activities
  • cultural events
  • celebrations.

Spaces can be booked any day of the week between 7am to 10pm, subject to availability.

Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2021–23

The City of Melbourne is proud to support reconciliation within our organisation, across the city and through our national and international connections.

our acknowledgement

  • Torres Strait Islander Flag
  • Aboriginal People Flag

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future.
