Melbourne City Baths reception

Melbourne City Baths has 5 Active Melbourne membership options and an aquatic only membership, allowing you to personalise your experience and get the most value for money.

Active Melbourne memberships

Standard

Active Melbourne Standard membership gives you the highest access to Melbourne City Baths facilities and services as well as reciprocal rightsOpens in new tab to North Melbourne Recreation Centre, Carlton Baths and Kensington Community Recreation Centre.

There are prime 60+, concession, student and youth options available under the Active Melbourne Membership.

The benefits of an Active Melbourne membership are:

  • unlimited gym access (including machine and free weights area, reformer pilates, stretching studio, cardio studio and more)  
  • unlimited group fitness classes  
  • unlimited access to pool, spa and sauna  
  • free locker use  
  • access to change rooms including shower facilities, hair dryers, straighteners (female only), ironing boards and more  
  • welcome pack including a drink bottle or shaker and a work-out towel  
  • 12 consultations with a gym instructor each year to keep you on track to achieve your goals
  • one hour free off-peak squash court hire per day. 

Restricted - Prime 60+

Active Melbourne Prime membership is available for those aged 60+, with tailored exercise classes and programs focused on fun and health. 

Access to the centre is restricted to 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday with the Prime 60+ Membership.

Restricted - Youth

The Active Melbourne Restricted - Youth membership is available for those aged 12 to 17 years, with some limitations to class options and times to ensure safety and supervision.

Gym Pool and Group fitness classes can be attended anytime, but a parent or guardian must complete and sign the membership paperwork on sign up.

To ensure the members safety, two mandatory consultations (lifestyle and program) must be completed with the parent or guardian present before the youth member can use the gym alone.

Student and Concession

Subsidised for full time students, make your study, health and wellness a priority with the Active Melbourne Student and Concession membership.

To be eligible for this membership type, individuals must be a full-time student and produce a valid student card. On expiry of the student card or when you cease to be a full-time student the membership will revert to an Active Melbourne Standard membership.

Aquatic membership

With this membership you can use the pool, spa and sauna as often as you like at Melbourne City Baths, North Melbourne Recreation Centre, Carlton Baths and Kensington Community Recreation Centre.

The benefits of an Aquatic membership are:

  • unlimited use of the pool, spa and sauna
  • free locker use
  • access to change rooms including shower facilities, hair dryers, hair straighteners (female only), ironing boards and more
  • welcome backpack including a swimming cap and a drink bottle
  • reciprocal accessOpens in new tab to other aquatic facilities in the area.

We offer corporate membership options to Melbourne-based businesses, which can help organisations to keep their staff fit and healthy. There are a range of options including personal training, gym, group fitness or pool access. You can elect usage and access requirements to suit your needs.

Reciprocal rights

As a member of Melbourne City Baths, you have reciprocal access to our YMCA managed facilities: North Melbourne Recreation Centre, Carlton Baths and Kensington Community Recreation Centre. Your membership wristband or card is required for entry.

Please note: Multi Visit Pass holders are not entitled to reciprocal rights.

Frequently asked questions

If you are currently on a concession, prime or youth membership at Melbourne City Baths, the same restrictions apply at the other Active Melbourne facilities. If you are on a standard Club Membership or any Active Melbourne membership, there are no time restrictions within centre operating hours.

Please visit the centre where you joined for all enquiries or requests relating to your membership - whether you’re wanting to change personal details, change membership type, cancel or suspend.

Book in for your gym appointments (including lifestyle consultations and exercise programs) at the centre at which you joined. Fees apply for gym appointments at other City of Melbourne facilities.
