The state government notified Victorian councils that the free Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) distribution program to community would cease on 31 December 2023.

Since the program began in October 2022, Victorian councils have distributed over 4 million tests to their communities. The availability of free RATS has been vital to ensure people have access to quick testing to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Melbourne has since distributed remaining RATs in stock to our community via the nominated library and customer service sites and have no remaining stock at sites.
