Operational Support Grants

We provide funding to local volunteer-run community organisations that support community connection, social inclusion, access and participation for City of Melbourne residents.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Operational Support Grants support local volunteer-run organisations to cover operational costs and costs of ongoing projects. Operational Support grants are two-year grants and applicants can apply for up to $2000 per year. This funding can be used to cover costs such as:

  • insurance 
  • venue hire 
  • incorporation fees 
  • printing 
  • bus hire 
  • supplies for activities.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for Operational Support grants applicants must meet the following general criteria:

  • Applicant organisations must be a not-for-profit constituted body. Auspiced applications are not permitted in this program.
  • Applicants must be fully volunteer-run and not employ staff.
  • Applicants must be located within the City of Melbourne municipality with benefits for local people.
  • Applicants must create opportunities for community members to experience greater connection to their community through opportunities that improve access and participation.
  • Applicants must have fully acquitted previous completed grants and have no outstanding debts to the City of Melbourne.
  • A single project, event, activity or program will only be considered for one City of Melbourne grant program at a time.
