                    ​​​​​​​​​​The Melbourne Licensees Forum is the largest liquor forum in Victoria and has almost 25 years of history. It is the designated liquor forum within the City of Melbourne and contributes to the vibrancy of Melbourne’s late night entertainment precincts and safe night time environments. Its diverse membership collaborates to address alcohol-related harm, responsible service of alcohol, safety and security in and around venues, standards of patron behaviour, venue management practices, and other topical issues that affect licensed venues.

                    Members of the forum include licensed premises, City of Melbourne, Victoria Police, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, Australian Hotels Association, and the Australian Venues Association.

                    The forum meets quarterly. In addition to meetings, membership grants access to training opportunities, workshops, and regular communications that allows venues to keep abreast of updates, changes, and opportunities for licensed venues.

                    Being a member of the Melbourne Licensees Forum gives you the opportunity to:

                    Who can join?

                    ​Membership is open to all licensees in the City of Melbourne. Membership of the forum is a voluntary commitment and there are no membership fees.

                    Venues are given support to:

                    • improve their management practices and systems
                    • access the latest trends, knowledge, and resources in the industry
                    • promote responsible standards of behaviour among patrons
                    • create a safe environment for patrons and staff.

                    When and where does the forum meet?

                    Meetings are held every three months at various venues and are hosted by licensees.

                    What happens at forum meetings?

                    Meetings focus on specific issues, including:

                    • venue security
                    • emergency management
                    • patron behaviour and management
                    • responsible service of alcohol
                    • industry trends and updates
                    • liquor licensing and regulation updates.

                    In addition to these issues, each meeting includes an open forum and dedicated time for informal networking. Regular updates are provided by City of Melbourne, Victoria Police, VCGLR, Australian Hotels Association Victoria, and the Australian Venues Association.
