                    Participation guidelines

                    To help you prepare for your Signal experience, please read the following guidelines.

                    For COVID-19 safety, please see our COVID-19 update for more information.

                    Please do not come to the Signal venue if you have flu-like symptoms.

                    Workshop/event guidelines:  

                    • Come with the intention to make art.
                    • This is a program that celebrates all levels and types of ability.
                    • Be aware of your own and others’ health and safety: always use appropriate protective equipment when working with toxic materials or dangerous equipment – as advised by the Artist or Signal staff.
                    • If you need extra materials or equipment, please ask Signal staff. 
                    • No food or drink near computers or technical equipment.
                    • Respect the space and be considerate of others. Clean up after yourself.
                    • All Signal programs are non-judgemental and respectful spaces. Sexism, racism, homophobia and discrimination of any form are not tolerated.
                    • The Signal program is smoke, drug and alcohol-free. Do not participate if you are drug or alcohol-affected.
                    • Violent, aggressive, or intimidating behaviour is not permitted. If you are feeling distressed or angry, please let a Signal staff member know.

                    To help us prepare for your participation:

                    • Please contact us if you have a medical condition or allergies that we should be made aware of in advance. See more information below regarding our Anaphylaxis policy.
                    • We welcome you to contact us if you have access requirements.

                    Documentation guidelines

                    Signal films, audio records and or photographs most events.

                    You can give or deny consent for your image, voice or artwork to be recorded through your booking or registration process. If you change your mind during the course of your workshop or event with Signal, please let one of our staff know.

                    Please note that if you consent to being recorded, you are agreeing to the following City of Melbourne terms for photography, filming and audio recording:

                    • Your artwork being filmed/photographed and or recorded by Signal, City of Melbourne.
                    • The photographs/video and or audio taken being used to promote the City of Melbourne in a range of forms including: print, film, website and across social media channels relating to services and programs provided by City of Melbourne.
                    • That City of Melbourne cannot be held responsible for how an external party may use photography/video/audio once posted online.
                    • That any photographs/video and or audio taken, is and will remain, the sole property of the City of Melbourne, or anyone authorised by the City of Melbourne. 
                    • That any photographs/video and or audio taken can be reproduced, edited and or copied at the discretion of the City of Melbourne, and any parties authorised by the City of Melbourne.
                    • That you will not seek remuneration, compensation or acknowledgement for use of any photographs/video and or audio taken of yourself during your workshop or event with Signal.

                    Anaphylaxis policy

                    Signal participants with a risk of anaphylaxis that may require an EpiPen®/equivalent:

                    • Need to inform Signal Staff of this on the day (if you haven’t done this in advance).
                    • Are presumed to be able to manage any potential anaphylaxis including self-administering their own EpiPen®/equivalent.
                    • Please note:
                      • Signal does not have an ​EpiPen®/equivalent to manage anaphylaxis
                      • Signal Staff are not trained to manage anaphylaxis
                      • Signal Staff are first aid trained in case of emergency

                    Collection notice

                    The City of Melbourne is committed to protecting your privacy. The personal information requested on booking and or signing in is being collected by City of Melbourne for purposes of safety requirements and to analyse data for future planning.  It will not be disclosed to any other external party without your consent, unless required or authorised by law.
