Computers, wi-fi and printing

​Find out all the information you need about computers, printing, copying and scanning at City of Melbourne Libraries.

Free public wi-fi is available at all our libraries. The network is named Melbourne Library Service. Once you connect, you will need to open a browser and accept our conditions of use before you can access the web.

Print, copy and scan

Print from a library computer or your own device.

A4 and A3 printing and photocopying is available in colour or black and white. The charge is 20 cents per side for all sizes including colour. Cash or EFTPOS accepted.

Scanning is free. Scan direct to email or USB from any library printer.

Desktop computers

All our computers use the Windows 10 operating system, with Microsoft Office and a range of browsers installed.

Library members can use a computer for 90 minutes per day with their library card and password at all our libraries. Desktop computer use can be extended by an extra 30 minutes per day, subject to availability.

Visitors can request a temporary internet-only membership that lasts for one month, except at City Library.

At City Library, 20-minute public computers are available for short-term use. After your session is over, you can immediately book the next available time.

Public computer use ends 15 minutes before library closing time.

Laptop computers for loan

Lenovo Yoga laptops are available to borrow and use in the library at Kathleen Syme Library, Library at The Dock and narrm ngarrgu Library and Family Services.

The screen can rotate a full 360 degrees. They use the Windows 10 operating system with Microsoft Office and have a range of browsers installed.

They have a camera, USB C input, SD card slot, and audio jack for headphones.

They are ready to connect to branch wi-fi for web browsing, document creation, web meetings, and media viewing.

To borrow the laptop you must have a full City of Melbourne Libraries membership and be 15 years and over.

Laptops are for use in the library building and must be returned by the end of the day.

Mobile printing

Print from your own computer, device or laptop.

Prints must be collected within 24 hours.
