                    Lock boxes in public spaces

An increasing number of lock boxes (key safes) are being attached to City of Melbourne infrastructure or to disused bikes which are then locked to infrastructure.

                    Did you know?
It is illegal to attach lock boxes to council infrastructure as they can impede access to services, cause damage to property, or obstruct genuine use of the structure. As such, we are asking all owners of these lock boxes to remove them immediately.

Removed lock boxes will be stored for two weeks, then they will be destroyed. Lock box owners can claim their property by contacting us and making an appointment time. Proof of ownership will be required.
