We’re always seeking content from events, hospitality, retail, attractions, and experiences located in the City of Melbourne. By promoting unique and diverse experiences, we aim to draw visitors to the city, and encourage people to stay longer and do more while here.

Year-round marketing

There are opportunities to have your business or event promoted through our marketing channels throughout the year. These promotions include What’s On MelbourneOpens in new tab, editorial, social media and newsletter, as well as advertising campaigns.

We’re seeking information from the following businesses and events:

  • major, multicultural, community and free events
  • businesses who provide a uniquely Melbourne experience
  • businesses who have seasonally influenced activity
  • businesses with special event menus, drinks or desserts
  • businesses with special offers such as discounts, ticketing offers or happy hour deals
  • iconic, locally loved, and quintessential businesses
  • tours and local attractions
  • pop-ups, markets, outdoor venues
  • businesses and events that champion sustainability activities
  • businesses impacted by infrastructure projects
  • located in outlying areas such as Carlton, North Melbourne, Docklands and Kensington.

You can submit your business and event details to be considered for promotion on our What’s On channels through email at marketing@melbourne.vic.gov.au.

To assist us in promoting your business or event, please ensure it is first listed on What’s On MelbourneOpens in new tab.

Please note, we curate all content published on our social media channels and  What's OnOpens in new tab, and retain editorial rights over content submissions. We reserve the right to decline publishing any business, event or special offer that we deem unsuitable.

We do not promote businesses that only exist online.

Only in the City is the destination marketing brand platform for the City of Melbourne, driving visitation to and spend within the city. Campaigns showcase all the unique events, hospitality, retail and other experiences, that are only in the city.

Seasonal campaign bursts include high-impact advertising on channels like outdoor, print, audio, social media and digital, as well as occasional influencer, media relations or activation activity. An always-on steam of digital advertising drives traffic to  What's OnOpens in new tab all year round.
