Melbourne City Baths

First opened in 1860, the Melbourne City Baths provides health and fitness services to the community. It has the largest swimming pool in the CBD, as well as a gym and a fitness studio.

With qualified and friendly staff, over 100 classes a week, historic aquatic facilities, swimming lessons and state of the art gym equipment, we’re here to help you feel healthier and happier by getting more active.

Opening hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 6am to 10pm
  • Friday: 6am to 8pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 6pm

Pools, spa and sauna close 15 minutes prior to centre closing time.

Getting here

Melbourne City Baths is on the corner of Swanston Street, Franklin Street and Victoria Street, near RMIT and Melbourne Central Station.

Train

If you catch any of the trains that go through the city loop, you can get off at Melbourne Central Station, the nearest to Melbourne City Baths.

Tram

Any of the trams heading to or from Melbourne University will get you to Melbourne City Baths. Get off at Stop 7 - RMIT University.

Bike

There are bicycle parking hoops out the front of Melbourne City Baths on Swanston Street.

Access and parking

If you have a disability or mobility impairment, you can get into Melbourne City Baths through the accessible entrance door on Franklin Street.

Due to the Metro Tunnel projectOpens in new tab, Franklin Street is currently closed to vehicle access. Car spaces for people with a disability have been installed on Cardigan Street in front of Dracula’s Restaurant.
