Examples of City of Melbourne assets and infrastructure include typical features of streets and other public spaces such as kerbs and channels, ramps and crossings, tree pits, lighting, and furniture.
Our standards have been developed to encourage a cohesive character and strong identity for the city. The standards respect the city's heritage, encourage the use of established and proven practices, and meet requirements for accessibility and sustainability.
When constructed according to these standards, the structural integrity, lifespan and appearance of our assets is protected.
How to use the standards
When starting the process of designing, constructing or considering any works that affect an asset in the public realm, please follow this process:
- Refer to our Design standardsOpens in new tab for a graphic representation and a photograph of how the finished asset should look.
- Refer to our Engineering standard drawingsOpens in new tab for the specific detailed information needed to construct or reinstate an asset properly and complete the works.
- Once construction is complete, provide the City of Melbourne with an accurate CAD drawing of the finished asset, prepared in accordance with our Requirements for as-built drawings.
