We need to talk about food: how we can all build a better food system
City of Melbourne has an overarching vision to improve our food system. Our aim is to promote sustainable choices within a system that is secure, healthy and socially inclusive.
We've produced this guide so that residents, business and visitors can better understand their impacts and take action that will make our food system more sustainable and resilient.
The guide includes a survey that will help you recognise the environmental impacts of your food choices, cut out and keep guides you can take to the market, paths to sustainability for both business and individuals, and a checklist where you can make your own sustainable food commitments. There’s also a wealth of information about the impacts of food on the environment and direction on where you can find more sustainable options.
We hope this guide helps you reduce the impacts of your food choices and that your actions will contribute to a more sustainable and resilient food system.
