Group fitness classes are a great way to motivate yourself to keep fit and healthy.

ClassDescription
AquaAn aqua class is a fitness session conducted in a pool, combining the principles of traditional aerobic exercise with the resistance and buoyancy provided by water. Participants perform a variety of exercises, including cardio movements, strength training, and flexibility exercises, often set to music.
BodyAttackBodyAttack is a high-energy fitness class with moves that cater to anyone from beginners to advanced. We combine athletic movements like running and jumping with strength exercises like push ups and squats.
BodyPumpBodyPump is the original Barbell workout ideal for anyone looking to get lean and toned. BodyPump gives you a total body workout with a focus on every muscle group to get you fit fast.
BoxingBoxing uses a variety of muscles while requiring rapid movements giving you the perfect endurance and power workout. Using simple techniques and combinations this class is suitable to all levels of fitness.
CircuitCircuit classes consist of a number of different stations. Participants will be split up into groups of two or more people, doing the exercise at that station for a set period of time before moving to the next station. Circuit classes are a great way for beginners to try group fitness for the first time.
CoreCore class is all about building strength, stability and endurance in the muscles that support your core, helping you improve your functional strength and assist in injury prevention. We use weights, resistance bands and bodyweight in a variety if movements to target every muscle of the core.
CycleIndoor cycling is a fantastic way to boost your cardiovascular fitness and lower-body strength. This class is a low-impact, highly effective workout designed for all levels of fitness. No experience necessary. 
Grit StrengthGrit Strength is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength, cardiovascular fitness and build lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plates and bodyweight exercises to blast all major muscle groups.
HIITThe class is a total body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. The interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts.
Mat ReformersMat Reformer Pilates class is an advanced class and not advised if you haven't done a Reformer and Mat Pilates class prior. This class uses reformer machines which ads resistance to Pilates exercises as well, we make use of mats and floor work allowing for a diverse and challenging workout.
PilatesPilates class is a low-impact exercise session that focuses on building strength, flexibility, and endurance through controlled movements. This mind-body workout emphasizes core strength, alignment, and breath control. classes may vary from gentle, rehabilitative sessions to more intense, dynamic workouts.
Prime CircuitPrime Circuit is specifically designed for adults aged 60+ years, with a focus on resistance training and functional strength activities. Classes are held in our training studio, providing you with interesting, challenging and varied workouts guided by a gym instructor. 
Prime PilatesPrime Pilates is a mat-based class targeting abdominal, back and shoulder areas to improve stability and balance. It also strengthens pelvic floor and core muscles. Beginners through to advanced participants are catered for with varied options to suit all ability levels. 
Reformer PilatesReformer Pilates is performed using the reformer machine which aids resistance to Pilates exercises. This class focuses on muscle engagement particularly around the core which improves strength and stability, athletic performance, balance, posture and injury recovery.
Les Mills VirtualAll Virtual classes are guided by trained Les Mills instructors on the big screen in our group fitness studio. These classes are both scheduled and available on demand anytime that suits you.
Yin YogaA Yin Yoga class is a slow-paced and meditative practice that targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments and fascia, aiming to increase flexibility and promote relaxation. Yin Yoga involves holding passive poses for an extended duration, typically ranging from three to five minutes or even longer.
YogaA yoga class is a mind-body practice that combines physical postures, breath control, meditation, and ethical principles to promote overall well-being. In a typical yoga class, participants engage in a series of poses (asanas) that emphasize strength, flexibility, and balance.
ZumbaZumba classes use a combination of low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party of Latin and World rhythms. Zumba is a total workout, combining all elements of fitness cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and fun!
Zumba GoldZumba gold is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.

Cancelling bookings

You can cancel your class booking via the Technogym app, online, or by contacting Melbourne City Baths directly at 03 9658 9011 or email mcb@melbourne.vic.gov.au. App cancellations close 30 minutes prior to the class commencing.

The class I’m trying to book is full

If a class is fully booked you can join a waiting list. As members cancel people on the waiting list will be automatically added into the class in the order that they joined the waiting list. Once moved into a class you will receive a text message and email to notify you that you have been added to the class.

Frequently asked questions

Your first group fitness class can be an intimidating experience, here is some common questions answered to help get you started and feeling great.

We offer a variety of classes that cater to both beginners and more advanced people. 

Please check the description of the class to see if it is suitable for you or talk to the instructor before or after the class.

You can try out a class by booking as a non-member with our casual rate before committing to a membership.

Letting the instructor know that it’s your first time will help them ensure you have a great first experience by giving you extra attention for your workout.

You should always come in appropriate activewear for the class you have booked in for. For most classes you are required to wear closed toe shoes except for some classes such as Yoga where you may remove your shoes in the class. We always ask that you bring a towel and water bottle for any visit to the centre. 

We provide all equipment needed for any of our group fitness classes. You can bring your own equipment such as exercise mats or boxing gloves if you prefer not to use the shared equipment provided.

We recommend getting there 10 minutes before your session starts as we have a strict 5 minutes cut off for latecomers. 

Missing out on the warm up makes it unsafe for you to join the session, as well as causing disruption for the other members and instructors.

Most classes can be attended from 16 years of age.

Some classes such as Yoga, Zumba or BodyAttack can be attended with a parent or guardian from the age of 14.

Some classes such as Boxing or Grit Strength can only be attend from the age of 18.

We offer both timetabled virtual group fitness sessions as well as On-demand. On-demand can be used at anytime outside of scheduled classes.

Locate the iPad next to the virtual screen in the main studio, from the iPad you will select the class format you wish to do and choose a workout length to participate in. 

You can pause and fast forward your selected workout via the iPad screen for further convenience in your virtual workout. 

We do not offer childcare services at Melbourne City Baths.
