Jamal Hakim was elected Councillor in November 2020.

Jamal is Founder and CEO of Hakim Consulting, a consulting firm specialising in partnering with organisations to achieve goals in diversity, innovation and growth and was the Managing Director of a national health non-profit which has safely and successfully navigated COVID-19. Having worked in complex, challenging global organisations his entire career, he is both an entrepreneur and business person at heart. Jamal is a Graduate Member of the Company Directors Course (GAICD) and is on the board of Democracy in Colour. Jamal holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Asian studies from the Australian National University, as well as a Juris Doctor from RMIT University.

A resident of Docklands and the city for over 14 years, Jamal is passionate about ensuring a thriving community that is physically, emotionally, culturally and environmentally safe for everyone. Jamal is also an advocate for representative and evidence-based decision-making.
