                    M/FW Expressions of Interest

Terms and Conditions - Expressions of Interest for Melbourne Fashion Week (MF/W) 2024.
                    • Applications close on the date supplied in the application and any Expressions of Interest (EOI) submitted after the closing date will not be considered, unless extenuating circumstances prevail, as determined by the City of Melbourne.
                    • The City of Melbourne is responsible for delivering the M/FW event and maintains all creative, directional, and conceptual control of all event components.
                    • Acknowledgement of receipt of your EOI does not guarantee acceptance of your application or any individual, group, association or business within the M/FW program. Acceptance into the program is at the sole discretion of the City of Melbourne based on meeting selected criteria and pending desired program activity.
                    • Successful applicants will be issued a letter of acceptance and/or an email confirmation, outlining all event details and requirements associated with the M/FW program.
                    • Priority for acceptance into the M/FW program will be given to individuals and businesses who meet the selection criteria listed in the application.
                    • All activities must take place during M/FW 2024 – Monday 21 October to Sunday 27 October.
                    • All independently produced events and activities within the M/FW program must be available to the public to attend (i.e. invitation-only events will not be considered).  Successful applicants within the Independant program must attend scheduled production meetings and provide regular updates on both the progress of the event elements and ticket sales (if relevant) as requested by the City of Melbourne.
                    • All types of businesses, community groups and individuals can express interest in being a part of the M/FW Independent events and activities.  Your core business/function does not have to be fashion.
                    • The City of Melbourne reserves the right to reject an event, individual, group, association or business where:
                      • there is a conflict of interest with M/FW objectives, partners or sponsors
                      • there is no adequate evidence to show that the individual, group, association or business will deliver to the quality standard expected by the event
                      • the EOI does not comply with these Terms and Conditions or requirements of the M/FW program
                      • the EOI is from, or is about, a promotional offer, retail discount, competition, marketing campaign or online business/initiative.
                    • Financial assistance from the City of Melbourne is not available to any individual, group, association or business applying through this EOI process, unless specified
                    • All successful applicants are solely responsible for guaranteeing the delivery of a successful event. The City of Melbourne will be indemnified for any responsibility for third-party event activity.
                    • Successful applicants with the prior approval of the City of Melbourne must agree to:
                      • use the M/FW logo (minimum) on all event communications and promotions relating to the participation in the M/FW Program
                      • display M/FW promotional material (such as the official program)
                      • encourage ticket sales through their own marketing and social media platforms
                      • participate in official event research conducted by the City of Melbourne during and post event if necessary
                      • comply with City of Melbourne photography and videography guidelines
                      • comply with City of Melbourne Exotic Animals Policy:

M/FW does not allow the presentation of fur of any animal, angora wool, or the skins of any wild or ‘exotic’ animals in their shows. This includes vintage fur and fur taken from animals who are culled or hunted, crocodile skin from both Australian crocodiles or imported, as well as the skins of all reptiles, marine animals, kangaroos, possums, ostriches and other wild species, including farmed wild species.  Only items containing non-animal derived materials which replicate these – such as fake/faux fur or vegan embossed leather – will be permitted. The M/FW animal policy includes exceptions as they relate to Traditional Owner relationships with natural resources, covered in the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010.
                      • Comply with the City of Melbourne Inclusion and Equity Policy:

This policy is being created to ensure the M/FW team, along with any engaged partner, stakeholder, partner or supplier, will foster an environment and event offering that is explicitly and intentionally cultivating a culture of respect, diversity and inclusion, addressing relevant issues around, but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, and age.

Through full participation, open discourse and input, this collaborative process will ensure a holistic and considered framework that will inform the creation of a new assessment and guide for all those involved in the production of M/FW events, to broaden inclusivity and to strengthen understanding of cultural care and consideration for people from culturally, linguistically diverse and marginalised backgrounds. This statement will be shared upon finalisation prior to this year’s event and be rolled out across all M/FW personnel, engaged suppliers and partners, and be detailed on this year’s M/FW website for everyone to review, accept and acknowledge.
                    • By completing this EOI and agreeing to the terms and conditions, we agree to receive communications regarding M/FW programming opportunities.
