Graffiti Management Policy

The City of Melbourne is reducing graffiti within the municipality through a mix of prevention, removal, enforcement and collaboration with Victoria Police.

A couple walks through ACDC Lane, with tourists gathered behind them near a parked scooter and famous Melbourne graffiti artwork featuring roses cascading down the building.

In June 2021 the Future Melbourne Committee approved the Graffiti Management Policy 2021 to ensure best practice graffiti management across the City of Melbourne. The policy replaces the Graffiti Management Plan 2014-18.

The policy differentiates illegal graffiti tagging and Melbourne's street art culture, which is celebrated around the world.
