Sustainable energy

The City of Melbourne has an ambitious agenda to create a carbon neutral city powered by renewable energy.

In 2018, we consulted with climate change experts, as well as the community, to develop Climate Change Mitigation Strategy to 2050. The strategy is a major commitment to action that aims to reduce the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality. Powering the City with 100 per cent renewable energy is one of the four priorities.

We have made great progress in reducing our emissions. Council’s operations are now powered by 100 per cent renewable energy from our award winning Melbourne Renewable Energy Project.

There is still more action needed and we all have a role to play. City of Melbourne and our partners offer a range of programs to support you in reducing emissions. Follow the links below to take action!
