Our Heritage Design Guide and Heritage Owner’s Guide aim to help owners of heritage properties in the City of Melbourne understand heritage planning and policy.

The Heritage Design Guide assists architects, developers and property owners to better use and understand our heritage policies when adapting or developing heritage properties.

The Heritage Owner’s Guide includes information on why protecting our heritage matters, the planning mechanisms in place to protect heritage, and how to apply for planning permits.

Earlier in the year we engaged owners of heritage properties, planners, heritage and urban design professionals to ensure the guides were clear and user-friendly.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future.
