                    Noise and Vibration Management Guidelines

As a developer or builder you must manage noise from your works. This includes works for excavation, demolition or construction.

You must ensure your projects comply with our Noise and Vibration Management Guidelines.

The guidelines set out detailed requirements for managing noise and vibration. They provide a measurable standard of what is acceptable in the form of prescribed levels.

If you are affected by construction noise, you can report a noise issue

                    What the guidelines cover

The guidelines cover key noise management practices for building projects. Get guidance on how to:

                    • establish good working relationships with stakeholders via community consultation
                    • sensitively and responsively handle and resolve complaints
                    • schedule noisy works to avoid sensitive times and provide respite periods
                    • put in place work practices to prevent, minimise and manage sources of noise
                    • select methods, plant and equipment to reduce noise and vibration
                    • plan the site layout and operations to limit noise on site and shield sensitive areas.
Code of Practice for Building, Construction and Works

The Code of Practice for Building, Construction and Works in the City of Melbourne sets out all safety and amenity requirements when using or impacting public space for any kind of building, construction or general works.

These requirements are intended to protect the public and our property around sites where works are occurring.
