Library at The Dock

Library at The Dock, one of our seven public libraries and one of four community hubs in the City of Melbourne, is the civic heart of Docklands.

It offers traditional and digital catalogues, free wi-fi, a range of unique events and multipurpose rooms for hire.

Waterfront three-storey building with wooden panelling and a wide, shaded deck.

We want Library at The Dock to be a place where programs and opportunities can be created for the community, by the community. It is part of our promise to provide quality spaces for people and community groups to use, for the benefit of Melbourne's residents, workers and visitors.

The venue has multipurpose rooms for hire that are suitable for meetings, conferences, performances, training, recreation, gameplay, art and design activities. There’s also a recording studio and gallery that can be booked.

In line with Council’s 2024-25 budget the hire fees will change from 1 July 2024. All booking requests processed prior to close of business on Sunday 30 June 2024 will remain at the 2023-24 amounts.

Booking requests for 2025 room hire can be submitted from 9am, Friday 1 November 2024.

At three storeys, 55.3 metres long and 18.1 metres wide, and made from engineered timber and reclaimed hardwood, Library at the The Dock achieved 6 Stars under the Green Star – Public Building Design PILOT rating tool. It’s also won several other sustainable design and architecture awards since opening.
