A new vibrant community village is being created in Southbank featuring affordable housing and community facilities, following an agreement between City of Melbourne and PDG Corporation.

In 2019, City of Melbourne signed a land sale and development agreement with PDG Corporation that will see a parcel of land at 132 Kavanagh Street transformed to accommodate a mixed-use development including residential and affordable housing. It will also include community facilities across two levels, which will be owned and managed by City of Melbourne once it is complete.

Construction is underway and is expected to be completed in 2025.

The development is the final component in the redevelopment of the Boyd site, which includes the Boyd Community Hub that opened in 2012, and Boyd Park which opened in 2019.

PDG Corporation and their builder Hamilton Marino commenced construction of the new Boyd Village development in November 2022, which includes the removal of seven trees on the site.

Residents and businesses can find out more about traffic and noise disruptions by contacting Hamilton Marino on (03) 9912 4999 or boydvillage@hamiltonmarino.com.au.

                    Removal of temporary facilities

To prepare the site for construction, City of Melbourne removed the temporary planter cylinders and basketball court that were installed while designs and town planning for the new Boyd Village development were being finalised.

We understand the importance of community spaces in Southbank and look forward to delivering services in the new building. The community garden located in front of the Boyd Community Hub will remain open.
