                    Dispersion

Dispersion, a project to enhance the functionality of the Federation Bells, via the human voice. We've developed software that analyzes the performed voice in real-time, to directly activate the bells to strike. The voice is dispersed from the bells. The voice, entirely, plays the bells, utterly.

This is a collaboration between composer Terence McDermott and experimental vocalist Carolyn Connors. We've developed software that functions as a performance interface to enable the human voice to activate the bells so the voice can directly play them. Dispersion represents the on-going development of performance potentials as a structural outcome of the software's inception. The software will be available to any musicians and composers who are interested in working with the bells in this way.
