                    COVID-19 Arts grants showcase

                    We’re committed to investing in the arts and supporting our city's creative community, especially when times are tough. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we're providing $2 million in grants to artists and creatives to invest in new works, and digital presentation of works and performances.

                    Take a look through the works that have been made possible through our quick response arts grants.​

                    • SASS - The Diaries of a Melbournite

                      A born and bred Melbourne girl is forced to rebuild her world and find her version of enlightenment.
                    • Drawn to Sound Mobile App

                      Drawn to Sound App combines 360 videos of performances in different locations around Melbourne with VR drawings, sounds and music into an augmented reality mobile app. It invites audiences to experience the mixed reality artwork at home using their smart phones.
                    • StoryKids Podcast

                      Each 10 minute podcast episode features a child author and their original story. We interview them about their creative inspiration and process. They guide us as we produce an immersive audio StoryScape with amazing Australian actors, music and sound.
                    • La Mama for Kids online

                      La Mama for Kids online provides a platform for Artists to create online content for the La Mama for Kids program. A series of performances premiered on La Mama's Facebook page and YouTube channel and workshops were conducted via Zoom.
                    • Was It Worth It?

                      Over thirteen episodes, each featuring a different guest, regular collaborators Gabriel Bergmoser and Peter Blackburn dive deep into instances of creative conflict in both independent and mainstage theatre, every week exploring the central question: was it worth it?
