Aarti Jadu is a multidisciplinary sound artist.

She began her sound journey in the context of devotional music originating from India. Being a first-generation Australian artist, Aarti’s practice naturally bridges diverse ideologies for the survival of her own integrity. She fervently explores voice through electronics to greater understand energy and its potential in relationship. Her recent work in trauma-informed voice workshops and somatics, along with years of study in yoga and raga music, forged a path to collaborate with neurologists to communicate and discuss matters of human experience, philosophy and science.

                    Embodiments

A modular multi-speaker installation sonically emulating the shape of a human body, scaled up to fit the size of a thoroughfare, Embodiments is proposed for pathways surrounding construction sites, namely between the upcoming State Library Station and State Library Victoria(SLV).

It is designed to reduce the adverse effects of construction and industrial noise pollution, in-effect facilitating deeper research into sound and mental health, addressing issues of accessibility and community.

Embodiments draws from eastern sound and healing theories, referencing Aarti Jadu’s 8-year long student relationship in the practice of raga music. This project aims to ignite open inclusive dialogue and further the integration of diverse arts and sciences.
