                    A paper swirl.
The project responds to the COVID-19 pandemic and the changing sense of movement and stillness in the city through creation of suspended watercolour paper sculptures.

                    Grant recipient: Laura Williams

For this project, Laura wanted to focus on the way the city's human-centric busyness had slowed to allow the more subtle movements in the environment to become clear. It was difficult at first to respond to the pandemic while it unfolded but I noticed I was really drawn to specific places as an antidote to the experience of living through this time. These places include the native grassland circle in Royal Park, swirling water in Docklands and closed swimming pools (this work is still in progress).
