An Instruction Manual on How to be Lucky

A girl looks to the side.
An absurdist video work using surreal props exploring ideas of order and chaos and the use of systems to make sense of an unpredictable world.

                    Grant recipient: Carolina Arsenii

An Instruction Manual on How to be Lucky was filmed and edited within the confinement of various stages of lockdown (from April to June 2020) and its artistic choices were informed by these constraints. The props and costume are a combination of recycled items and sculptural objects. The setting is a home and the artist is the sole actor. The video looks at the tension between the need to create systems and the impossibility of systematizing certain things such as luck.
