Trees and plants are critical infrastructure in our city, helping to cool our city, support biodiversity and community wellbeing. That’s why the Urban Forest Fund provides grants to people in the City of Melbourne who want to green their property.

The Urban Forest Fund supports a wide range of projects, including gardens, tree planting, biodiversity projects, green roofs and vertical greening. Grant applications are assessed by a panel of greening experts and community members who prioritise projects that will provide the most benefit to the community and environment.

The Urban Forest Fund began in 2017 and there have been three successful rounds of grants to date, with Round Four now underway. Each round of funding differs in scope due to factors such as available funds, City priorities, and joint-funding arrangements. When applying for an Urban Forest Fund grant it is important to look up the current round guidelines.
