                    Open data

We’re committed to improving the public services we provide, as well as supporting new economic and social initiatives. One of the ways we do this is through our Open Data program – an online platform where we host more than 150 data sets.

These data sets are available to anyone around the world to access and use, at no cost.

The data sets are current and diverse, covering a broad range of subjects including our real-time pedestrian counters, available parking bays, and our urban forest.

Our 'open-by-default' approach to data is supported by five Open Data Principles (DOC 38 KB). This means that if we’re able to share data – factoring in commercial copyright, security and privacy concerns – we will.

We do this because we believe in being a transparent organisation that makes it simple for the community to access information. It helps foster citizen collaboration and innovation, and makes it easier for innovators to develop solutions and services that are relevant to the community.

We’re always looking to improve our open data offering, so have a look and let us know what you think. We’re particularly interested in working with developers to improve the platform’s functionality and the data available.

See the Open Data Platform and share your feedback with us.
