The following businesses were recipients of the 2010 Lord Mayor's Commendations.
Dimitrios Korfiatis
Business: East Melbourne Fine Fresh Fruit
Dimitrios Korfiatis acknowledges, in a very practical way, that he has to make a living. A cousin of his wife, Olga, suggested that he start a fruit and vegetable shop in East Melbourne. More than 40 years later, Dimitrios and Olga continue to work long hours, seven days a week serving the East Melbourne community from their Wellington Parade shop. They say they are rewarded by the loyalty of their customers.
Olga Korfiatis
Business: East Melbourne Fine Fresh Fruit
A cousin in the fruit and vegetable business advised Olga Korfiatis and her husband Dimitrios to open a similar business in vacant premises in Wellington Parade, East Melbourne. Olga and Dimitrios live above their shop, which enables them to operate the business seven days a week. Their loyalty to their customers, including local restaurants, for more than 40 years is appreciated within their community and is reciprocated.
