Requesting a Penalty Reminder Notice fee waiver

Find out how to request a waiver of the reminder fee that has been added to your original fine.

If you haven’t acted before the due date on your fine, the City of Melbourne will send you a reminder called a Penalty Reminder Notice. An additional fee will be added to the original fine at this stage.

You can request a waiver of this reminder fee if the notice is addressed to you and you believe any of the following circumstances apply:

                    • you were unaware of the fine
                    • you believe the reminder notice was issued in error
                    • there were exceptional circumstances that prevented you from taking action before the due date.

You may also need to provide documentation to support your request..

If we decide to waive the reminder fee, you’ll still need to pay the original fine amount. If you wish to contest the fine itself, you’ll need to request an infringement review instead.

This will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Please have any supporting documentation ready before you start.
