The 'Melbourne Hospitality Strategy 2008–2012' is a framework for the City of Melbourne to partner with and support the city's thriving hospitality sector.
The Melbourne Hospitality Strategy 2008–2012 represents a great opportunity for the city to recognise the hospitality sector’s importance and value and to acknowledge its broad contribution to Melbourne’s position as a thriving and sustainable city.
Hospitality is also an important contributor to the city’s gross economic output and is a significant partner in the economic growth of the city and the state.
When the hospitality sector does things well, it creates benefits for the whole city, generating increased visitation, better experiences, longer stays, more spending and a lasting goodwill towards Melbourne.
Working in partnership with the hospitality sector, the City of Melbourne looks forward to creating many opportunities for improvements, growth and innovation within this sector.

- helps build the profile and success of Melbourne hospitality areas
- meets four times a year in an honorary capacity.
