Elastic Heart is a series of abstract paintings inspired by keywords in the lyrics to Sia's song 'Elastic Heart'. It's an exploration of how to visually express the heart's emotional rollercoaster of love, toxic dynamics, loss and renewal.

Angelina explores ways to visually represent these emotional experiences, through the added filter of mental health obstacles caused by complex post-traumatic stress disorder, which fuels the intensity of the creative process as an action artist.

Painting and listening to the song, Elastic Heart helped Angelina to navigate heartbreak which turned into a breakthrough of the fear to love again.

This exhibition is an acknowledgement of the detrimental impact physical and sexual abuse can have on a person's adult ability to love again and sustain meaningful relationships and mental well-being. Most importantly, what's possible with the necessary support, security and safety.

Painting has become a way for Angelina to communicate the unsayable and meaningfully reconnect with society. Angelina found it important to acknowledge that while it has been men who have caused much lasting trauma and damage, it has also been men who have played a crucial role in teaching Angelina to recover, love and trust again.

                    Launch: Thursday 11 July, 6pm to 7.30pm.
