We’ve completed the Swanston and Flinders intersection security bollard upgrade in partnership with the Victorian Government. The project involved progressively replacing the temporary concrete blocks on the pedestrian footpaths outside Young & Jackson and St Paul’s Cathedral with permanent steel bollards.
The upgrade forms part of the Victorian Government’s $52.5 million
Melbourne Protective Security Enhancement program. It builds on works already completed as part of this program to protect nine of Melbourne’s most high-profile pedestrian sites from vehicle-based attacks. This includes the Flinders Street Station forecourt upgrade completed in 2019.
Works commenced in late March 2022 and were completed in November 2022.
