                    Australia Wharf upgrades

City of Melbourne is enhancing Australia Wharf – providing a welcoming place for visitors to enjoy Docklands’ vibrant waterways.

                    Upcoming works

In mid to late 2024, City of Melbourne will undertake dredging works at Australia Wharf and Collins Landing to improve the health of the Yarra River – Birrarung and provide better conditions for charter vessels to dock.

                    What's happening?

An excavator barge will park next to the wharf and will remove unwanted debris and sediment from the bottom of the river which has built up following floods in 2022.

What you can expect while works are underway:

                    • Machinery may produce some noise, but we will have measures in place to reduce noise as much as possible.
                    • Pedestrian access and access to properties will be maintained at all times.
                    • A river traffic management plan will be in place to support waterway users.

We'll provide further information in the lead up to works starting.

                    Completed works

From June to November 2022, City of Melbourne delivered better facilities for charter vessels, supporting long-term business and improving services and infrastructure for residents and visitors.

Stage one works included the installation of 51 timber piles, fenders and mooring cleats.

Stage two works included the installation of new service pedestals with waste, water and electrical connections for charter vessels.
