Present or develop work at Arts House

Arts House values the arts that help create a world where artists, communities and audiences are actively engaged, aware and empowered to participate in the creation of an imaginative, just and environmentally sustainable globalised society.

Arts House operates across three flexible venues – North Melbourne Town Hall, the Meat Market and the Warehouse – and acknowledges the iconic nature of the historic buildings it works in. It provides well-equipped, well-maintained spaces that are well-supported by technical and creative staff.

We aim to be transparent in our selection processes, responsive and efficient in our operations, environmentally responsible, affordable and welcoming.

Through our programs we support and present Australian and international artists at different stages in their careers. The program comprises work that is curated by the Arts House creative team from the Expression of Interest process (see below) and we also seek out artists and invite them to be part of the program.

How can you be involved?

Arts House is changing one of the ways it supports artists.
Previously there was an Arts House grants program for presentations in North Melbourne Town Hall (presentation grants) and developments in the Meat Market (CultureLAB). Following a City of Melbourne review of its arts grants there is a new process.

Arts House expression of interest

Artists are invited to submit an expression of interest for either presentations and or developments in any of the three Arts House venues – North Melbourne Town Hall, Warehouse and Meat Market.

The Arts House expression of interest is a simpler process for artists to navigate. What we want from you is your project idea; we’ll work with you to develop the details of the presentation or development if selected.

The expressions of interest will be considered in relation to the Arts House artistic policy.

Artists can speak to the Arts House creative staff at any point in the year about their ideas and may be directed to the expression of interest process.

There will be a briefing session on the new process and a tour of the venues on 4 April at 6pm at the Arts House, Warehouse, 521 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne.
