                    Small Towns Big Picture

Small Towns Big Picture was an innovative regional development project led by the Cultural Development Network of Victoria and the Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities at La Trobe University in Bendigo.

The project involved the active and creative engagement of the people of five small towns in central Victoria: Carisbook, Wedderburn, Dunolly, Maldon and Talbot.

It combined creative processes, social research and community planning techniques to develop community understanding of each town's performance against indicators of sustainability. These covered environmental impact, social cohesiveness and economic activity, with the goal to stimulate future action at the local level.

Seven artists were commissioned to work with the researchers and townspeople to interpret the results and create artworks for this exhibition.

Small Towns Big Picture was a partnership with Cultural Development Network.
