                    Record and Analysis

Rubble and steel abound in this reworking of the City of Melbourne's archive of practical photography.

                    12 November 2009 to 30 January 2010

Curator and artist Louis Porter has found more than a chronicle of carpark construction and dished crossings; the images bristle with incidental details that create an enigmatic portrait of a city in flux and say much about the generous nature of photography.

Sourced mainly from a group of 1600 photographs produced by the engineering branch during the 1950s and 1960s, Record and Analysis is an unassuming portrait of Melbourne. The exhibition also features items and work from the artist's own archive, as well as from the current engineering branch.
