This exhibition evolved from the proposition that 'if all town planning acts to alter the value of land, there is no such thing as a free market'.
The exhibition created a timeline for the city's development, from the CBD's original division into a grid of 32 identical plots of land in 1837 to the government's speculative planning document,
Melbourne 2030, released in 2002. It looked at the social, economic and planning factors that shape the city we call home.
