Curator Ken Scarlett considered the changing role of figurative and non-figurative sculptures in our streets and parks — and recall some of the public mêlées that have accompanied their commissioning and placement.
The small exhibition catalogue also served as a map will for those who wished to subsequently see some of the works in situ.
Curated by Ken Scarlett
Ken Scarlett and sculpture go together like hand and glove. His major publication, Australian Sculptors (Melbourne, 1980), was the first to present a complete survey of sculptors in Australia and it remains the much sought after reference on the subject.
He is a frequent contributor to Australian and international journals on sculpture and has written several publications on individual sculptors. From a curatorial perspective, he has been the creative force behind numerous sculpture exhibitions and festivals.
