A solution-focused group, they successfully convinced the Council to give Southbank a permanent community garden by installing a temporary one and demonstrating its benefit to the environment, community, and municipality.
Today, the garden is a place where Southbankers gather to share, learn, connect, and grow. It has improved liveability, reducing the suburb’s waste and environmental impact through green space activation, and provided countless opportunities for fun, educational activities on various sustainability topics leading to long-term behavioural changes.
