Gaze has been responsible as a driving force behind massive participation rates in sport throughout Victoria and has driven the building of facilities around the state, focusing on getting children involved.
Gaze was also a NAB community ambassador for the CommunityLink program, a member of the Human Rights Consultation Committee and was a volunteer patron for the Commonwealth Games.
In March 2016, Gaze became an ambassador for the non-for-profit organisation The Beehive Foundation, a charity that runs free programs to develop resilience and coping mechanisms for youth via junior sporting organisations.
Gaze and his wife Melinda have four children and in 2014 he was named Australian Father of the Year by children's charity The Shepherd Centre.
