Projections
Screened for a two week installation period in the foyer of City Library's building, Melbourne Library Service's Projections is a public program that features dynamic and engaging film, video and new media content.
Melbourne Library Service is always on the lookout for digital image content to screen as part of it's public Projection Program, showcasing quality works that embrace the vibrancy of Melbourne’s artistic community.
What we are looking for
Due to the pass-through nature of our audience, City Library is mainly looking for work, which will be visually stimulating without the need for a soundtrack.
Classification restrictions require that we only show material, which is suitable for a public space (lighter than G rated) and not too reliant on narrative. Abstract imagery and photographic slideshows are perfect for the space.
Each successful submission is played on a constant loop for a two week long installation for either the first two, or last two weeks of the month. Screening times are advertised on our website.
Submissions must be presented via DVD copies in PAL format, or Powerpoint slideshow, of no less than 10 minutes duration, preferably 20 minutes. Artists are more than welcome to assemble their own compilation with other contributing artists if their body of work does not meet this requirement.
Please note: All DVDs must be set to loop start to finish to start.
Artists wishing to apply for the Projections program should send a bio/resume and synopsis of the work to: libraryevents@melbourne.vic.gov.au
Niches
Measuring approximately 50cm high by 30cm wide by 30cm deep, these six 'hidden gems' are dotted around the ground floor at City Library and are perfect for small sculptural works, jewellery exhibitions, and craft works.
