The Hub
The City of Melbourne opened ‘The Hub @ Docklands’ in July 2007, as a community facility for residents and visitors of Docklands.
Since then, The Hub has established itself as a centre for community activities in Docklands.
Our aim
The City of Melbourne is working hard to foster community activities and increase awareness of The Hub. Council's aim is to have The Hub @ Docklands facility used or booked every day by an external group.

Services at The Hub
The Hub offers the following general services:
- information on Docklands and Council services
- a range of maps, brochures and information about upcoming events in Docklands and across the City of Melbourne
- hire of venue and/ or meeting spaces available for use by community groups, residents and organisations.
Free wireless internet is also available daily between 7am and 7pm. If you have a laptop with a wireless modem, bring it down to the hub, relax on the deck or in one of our comfy chairs and browse your email and the web.
We also have copies of The Age and The Herald Sun for you to come in and read during opening hours.
Other services
Playgroups
Regular playgroups are held in a dedicated playroom at The Hub. For information about joining a playgroup, please contact the Parenting Support Coordinator on 03 9320 4718.
Stompers – Storytime sessions
Stompers is a half hour of stories, songs, rhymes, music and best of all FUN! Stompers starts in February and runs until mid December on Mondays, 11am to 11.30am. Sessions will not run on public holidays or during school holidays.
Lunchtime table tennis
Wednesday and Fridays: 12noon to 1pm or 1pm to 2pm.
Library services
Check Melbourne Library Service for information on the City of Melbourne's libraries. You can become a library member at The Hub.
Docklands residents and workers can return all Melbourne Library Service books to The Hub. There is also a 24-hour return chute located on The Hub’s decking area near the front door, and any returns placed in the chute will be processed at The Hub.
Library members can also reserve books online and request to have them delivered to The Hub for pick-up.
Sport/recreational equipment
Petanque sets: The Hub has five 8-ball Petanque sets available for public use. Two rinks are located just outside The Hub near Waterview Walk which are available to all members of the public. The sets are available free of charge (however a security check is required).

The Hub for hire
What is available?
The Hub's three main areas are available for hire – the Cinema Room, the Atrium and The Longroom:
- The Cinema Room: Ideal for presentations, movie screenings, meetings or classes. It caters for up to 35 people (theatrette style) or 20 people (boardroom style). The room contains an inbuilt data projector, screen, whiteboard and TV/DVD facilities.
- The Atrium: The largest open space in The Hub. During the day it acts as an information centre, containing pamphlets, maps and notices for visitors and members of the local community. The space is available for use after hours and can cater for activities such as functions (up to 55 people), large meetings, movement classes and rehearsals.
- The Longroom: Ideal for smaller meetings. It caters for up to 18 people (theatre style) or 10 people (boardroom style). The room contains a TV, DVD player and a whiteboard.
Kitchen facilities are available, including a fridge and microwave. Plunger coffee, water jugs, crockery, cutlery, cups, mugs and glasses are also available.
How much does it cost?
The cost of hire varies depending on the type of organisation using the space, and the type of activity being conducted. A full fee schedule is available on request. All users are required to pay a security deposit of $300. This amount is refundable subject to conditions being met.

Bookings are confirmed once this form is processed and the date is confirmed when full payment is received by the Community Hub's Officer. Applications can also be made by groups wishing to use the Hub on a regular basis.
