About the Melbourne Awards

The Melbourne Awards are our city’s highest accolade. Now in its 12th year, the awards program was developed by the City of Melbourne to celebrate and reward inspirational people and organisations who dedicate their time and energy to help shape our city.

Nominations for the 2014 Melbourne Awards have now closed. Registered entrants have until Monday 4 August to upload their submissions. Submissions must be uploaded via the online submission form.

The awards honour Melburnians who have made a significant contribution to Melbourne life in the areas of sustainability, community and profile. These three areas of contribution have been identified by the City of Melbourne as vital elements for securing Melbourne’s future as a thriving, forward-thinking capital city.

Within these areas of contribution, winners are recognised across three separate divisions: individuals, community organisations and corporations. This results in a total of nine award categories.

Entries can be made by nominating an individual, group or organisation who has made a significant contribution to Melbourne life.

Winners are selected through a robust and independent judging process comprising senior business leaders from a range of industry sectors. Entrants will have the opportunity to establish relationships and gain valuable feedback and advice from industry experts.

The 2014 Melbourne Awards program will conclude in the presentation of Award winners at the prestigious annual Gala Award Ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall.

Another important part of the Melbourne Awards program is the announcement of Melburnian of the Year. The Melburnian of the Year is selected by a committee of notable Melburnians appointed by the Lord Mayor and will be honoured at the Gala Awards Ceremony.
