Throughout history, art has played a major role in recording, reflecting and imagining the state of human society and its relationship with the natural world.
Described by the international news website, Huffington Post, as one of the world’s 'top 10 climate events for 2015' the inaugural Melbourne ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE festival gathered a community keen to engage in the challenges of climate change through the creative vision of art.
The 2015 ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE festival was held in Melbourne from 11 April to 17 May, with 25 exhibitions and 46 public programs that attracted over 75,000 visitors and the participation of hundreds of artists, museums, galleries, corporate and government partners, universities and volunteers.
The festival attracted widespread media attention in Melbourne, Australia and internationally with a combined print publication circulation and radio broadcast audience of more than three million and over 10 million unique daily visitors to websites covering the festival. ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE put Melbourne on the map as a city where science, sustainability, and culture go hand in hand.
