Parking for people with disability

Find and navigate to parking spaces reserved for people with disability, and find out about the parking permits available.

Sign for 2P disabled parking.

We provide designated kerbside spaces in the municipality for vehicles displaying Australian Disability Parking permits.

Permit holders can also park for double the time shown on the sign in any general ‘green signed’ parking space.

Accessible parking spaces are also provided by some off-street car parks.

Better parking in your neighbourhood

Parking improvements

We’re delivering our Parking and Kerbside Management Plan. That means we’re reviewing and revising the parking in all neighbourhoods across the City of Melbourne to make parking simpler and fairer.

Improvements include cheaper rates for off-peak times and free parking for short stops under 15 minutes with the EasyPark app.

Disability parking permits

To use designated accessible parking spaces you must display a valid disability parking permit.

The accessible permit scheme managed by VicRoads includes three permit types:

  • Australian Disability Parking (ADP) permit for individuals
  • Double Time (DT) permit for individuals
  • Australian Disability Parking (ADP) permit for organisations

City of Melbourne manages an additional permit type:

  • City Access permit for individuals (who hold a valid ADP permit).

Visit Parking permits for people with disability for full details on eligibility, conditions, usage and how to apply.
