E-bike hire

We have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Lime (formerly JUMP bikes) for a one-year trial of an electric bike share service, with the bikes available to book through the Uber or Lime app.

The MOU includes City of Port Phillip and City of Yarra and establishes a framework for Lime to operate in Melbourne, supporting the safe use of e-bikes and protecting the amenity of our streets. View the MOU below.

The service area covers parts of the Melbourne, Yarra and Port Phillip local government areas.

We chose to partner with Lime bikes to encourage cycling in the city and reduce transport emissions and congestion. Lime will be responsible for all aspects of the operation of the service. The trial will allow us to understand how the bikes are being used and make sure the service is working for the community.

Lime is a registered COVID-19 safe business and is following government advice by frequently cleaning and sanitising all bikes with an extra focus on frequently touched areas. The bikes are regularly cleaned in the Lime warehouse and around the city to keep you safe.
