Makerspaces

Our library makerspaces, located at Library at The Dock, Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre and narrm ngarrgu Library and Family Services, are the places for crafting, digital designing, coding, music and video production.

Our makerspaces are ideal spaces for upskilling your creative endeavours, entrepreneurial ideas and your home business.

Library at The Dock Makerspace offers safety inductions, introductory gear tutorials along with workshops. With studio rooms, 3D printers and a suite of gear and staff to support your creative pursuits.

Kathleen Syme Makerspace doubles as a bookable space ideal for community groups, schools and small businesses. With a variety of tools and creative technology gear like laser cutters, CnC (Computer Numerical Control) and 3D printers, this space encourages makers of all levels wanting to do, learn and create more.

narrm ngarrgu Makerspace offers our widest variety of machines to support you in developing new skills, whether it's for fun or your next small business experiment. We've got CnC routing, laser cutting, airbrushing, embroidery and more.

To access equipment in our makerspaces, you must:

  • be a member of City of Melbourne Libraries
  • have completed a safety induction
  • be aged 15+
  • people aged under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
