Urban Forest Precinct Plans

The Urban Forest Precinct Plans are the implementation guidelines that underpin our Urban Forest Strategy. They outline what trees will be planted where, when and why over a period of 10 years.

Our current Precinct Plans are coming to the end of their cycle and are being renewed over the next few years. The existing plans are included below and the new plans will be added as they are completed.

How is the community involved?

We are seeking input from residents, workers and visitors in each of the neighbourhoods to inform the new plans. You can get involved by coming to a community workshop in your neighbourhood, doing our online survey, dropping a pin on our map where you’d like to see more trees or provide feedback on the draft plans once they’re available for public comment.

This is an exciting opportunity to have your say on the future of street trees within your neighbourhood.

When are the workshops and how do people sign up?

Over the last two years we have completed community engagement for East Melbourne, South Yarra, Central City, Carlton, Kensington, Docklands and North and West Melbourne. In 2025 community engagement is planned for:

  • Southbank, Parkville and Fishermans Bend.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future.
